Haley at work
After accompanying me on an early morning trip to the dentist, Haley went to work with me on 8/24. We stayed until just after lunch, and I worked the resst of the day at home. Haley really liked my workplace. I told her she could work in a place like that if she got her degree in 3-D animation, which she wants to do. It’s been great, telling her that the best school for that is MIT’s Media Lab, and she needs all A’s to get in. Good brainwashing! 🙂
Maze Day – middle school registration
Kathie and I spent several hours on Thursday 8/16 staffing the table for the Music program at the middle school. I came back the next day to help our volunteers get started, and have been working ever since to enter all of the data from the forms we collected, and get information to the school about kids whose schedules need to change. Whew!
Speaking on a Panel, movie screening
I’m here at the DeFrank Center in San Jose to speak on a panel after a screening of the film “Pariah”, at an event called “Growing Tolerance: A Night of Black LGBTQ Visibility”
Following Judy
Just made a quick stop at Judy’s Blog. I love seeing what she’s doing, and of course her gorgeous photos. I miss her!
Katelyn Starts 10th Grade
Katelyn started 10th grade at Mills High School on Tuesday the 14th. So far she likes her classes and teachers, although the 7am band thing continues to be difficult. It’s easier now, though, since her friend Drew, who’s a year behind her in school and lives up the street, is now at Mills; we’re sharing carpooling with Drew’s mom, Lynn. Yay!
Marilyn – Val – Camping
August 9-12 Val and I went to a completely different kind of camping at Leather Levi Weekend August 9-12. As usual, a life-altering experience.
Kathie – Kids – Camping
Kathie and Joanie took all 3 girls down to Thousand Trails in Gilroy for a fun few days of camping August 4-7. I gather swimming, bike riding, and games were most of the fun.
Busy Weekend
This is what Val and I accomplished over the weekend:
- Cleaned up the mess left after all of the work on the media cabinet
- Laundry
- Showed the 22nd street house to many prospective tenants
- Grocery shopping
- Much paperwork
- Bank deposit
- Party supplies for LLW
- Last-minute treasurer duties for LLW
- Cooked a yummy dinner on Saturday night
- Exiles orientation
- Exiles business meeting
- Tried to keep up with recordings from the Olympics
Wow, tired just thinking about it!
Dinner with Tina and Michael
The whole family had dinner out with Tina (Uncle Bobby’s sister) and her boyfriend Michael at Luna Park in SF last Friday the 3rd. They’re here on vacation until Tuesday the 7th. It was great to connect and catch up.
Lunch with Francesca
Had a nice dim sum lunch at ABC Seafood in Foster City with Francesca. She invited a surprise guest, Barbara Yee, with whom Francesca and I worked at Xerox many years ago. It was great to catch up.
