Pride!
Home from Pride. Riding with Kathie and the girls was, as usual, awesome, as was hanging out at the booths with them and Glynis and Susan. The Exiles and LLW booths where I worked were fun. The weather was perfect! The motorcycle ride to and from was a little chilly in my skirt and lace stockings, and since I hadn’t had the bike on the freeway in a while I was a little nervous, but all went well. The most surreal part was walking the 2 blocks to my bike through wall-to-wall people hanging out at the Rap stage. It seemed to go on forever! Luckily everyone was friendly. I love Pride!

A Week of Planning
Wednesday was a meeting about the Exiles Articles and Policies, and I’ve been organizing the Exiles booth for Pride, planning to work at the LLW booth at Pride, and testing out my motorcycle to make sure it will be OK for the parade.
Jennifer & Selena
Another delightful visit from Jennifer and Selena on Sunday. We talked, snacked, and had a couple of fun games of Stone Age. Missed Val…
Peaceful at home
Val left for Japan on Friday, and I dropped the kids at Kathie’s on Sunday. She took them to my mom’s for a few days. The house has been empty. I love my family and miss them, but I am very much enjoying the peace.
Back from Palm Springs, tired but happy
It was incredibly hot in Palm Springs, up to 106 on Sunday. But the Desire weekend is an amazing time that I wouldn’t miss for anything… already signed up for next year. I got home early Monday morning and just did nothing but chill out all day, watching TV and napping and drinking lots of water. What a delight!
Off to Palm Springs
Leaving later on today for the Desire weekend in Palm Springs. Should be great fun, although well over 100 degrees. Yikes!
Out on the town
On Saturday, Val and I first conducted the Exiles orientation with Rio, and then headed over to the Powerhouse to wish Leland a happy birthday. I must be getting old… it felt weird to be heading into a bar at 10pm, and then hanging out with loud music and partying folks for a while. But it was a lot of fun, especially dancing with Lance.
Visit from Michelle and the girls
Michelle, Ariella, and Miriam joined us for a burrito and taco bar and just hanging out on Friday, June 2. It was great to have yummy food and just hang out, and Haley got a Feldenkreis lesson while the rest of us watched “How It’s Made”.
(Val couldn’t be there because she was attending the memorial for our friend Ken, who passed away last month.)
Motorcycle Mishap
Whacked my knee again, this time as my motorcycle was falling over in my driveway. Here’s how it happened: I hadn’t ridden for a while since I broke my thumb, so I had it on the charger and was taking it out to test. It started, but when I inched down to the bottom of the very steep driveway (which you have to do in order to check for traffic coming down the hill), my downhill foot hit a wet patch and slid, and the bike went over, down the hill. I couldn’t pick it up myself, so I went to a neighbor who probably couldn’t help (a thin older woman), but whose daughter was there (I could tell by the car). I was hoping for a third person to help (that bike weighs like 600 lbs!), but the two of us got tough with it and got it up! It wouldn’t start (probably flooded) and then the battery died. Couldn’t get it up the driveway, so I had to park it in the street overnight. The next morning I ran a long extension cord out there with the charger. When it looked like it was charged it started! I took it out for a spin to test it out and get it charged up again. For not being ridden for months it did pretty well, although it needs a tune-up. I need to get it in shape for riding in the Pride Parade in a few weeks!
Game time
Glynis and Susan hosted a fun game-and-enchilada party on the 27th. Very fun!
